FAQ

Who is permanent makeup for?

If you want to look your best anytime, anywhere it’s for you. If you want to shed off some years and look healthier, younger and fresher permanent makeup does wonders! If you’re a busy mom, business woman or have an active lifestyle you’ll save hours every week not having to stand in front of the mirror slaving over applying makeup. Not to mention you won’t have to worry about sweating it off during a workout or melting by the end of an evening out.

What is permanent makeup?

Semi-permanent makeups are treatments that replicate perfectly applied conventional makeup, most frequently on the eyebrows, lash line, and lips. This is done by inserting cosmetic pigments into the dermis layer of the skin. Also known as Permanent Make-up, Hair stroking, Microblading, Micro-Pigmentation, 3D Eyebrow Embroidery and Cosmetic Tattooing.

Is permanent makeup expensive?

Wax Spa believes that people are looking for the highest possible quality of work. As stated, remember that this is your face and there is no room for compromise. Only the highest quality of work should suffice. When it comes to your face, accept nothing less than a first class result with no one else but a master practitioner.

Microblading eyebrows

Microblading eyebrows otherwise known as the hair simulation technique, is a technique we use for creating the most natural eyebrows possible. The microblading technique mimics your own eyebrow hairs thus creating a feathering effect. This innovative technique is far more natural looking than a solid fill.

Powdered technique eyebrows

If you’re someone who prefers fuller eyebrows but still wants that soft texture, you may want to consider the powdered technique. The powder technique mimics the appearance of conventional eyebrow makeup whether it is an eyebrow pencil or eyebrow shadow.

What is a signature eyebrow?

It is our signature treatment, where we create your eyebrows strand-by-strand using lifelike strokes applied directly onto the skin, using a technique called Microblading. The treatment replaces eyebrow pencils, and assures perfectly shaped and balanced eyebrows all-day, every day. The Signature Brow lasts up to two years, and then fades naturally without any discoloration.

What happens during a signature eyebrow treatment?

Eyebrow hair grade and color is analyzed, and the desired shape is drawn on with a specialized pencil. We will draw each strand to create a symmetrical, natural-looking eyebrow that is custom-made for your bone structure; giving you the chance to see how dramatically new eyebrows change your face. Once you are satisfied with the shape and thickness, the therapist consults with you on color— we mix and match with the hue to ensure we get a shade that is closest to your natural hair color. We will also discuss the procedure, the after-care, how long it takes the skin to heal, and how to ensure the best results. The technician will create your eyebrows by hand, strand by strand. A topical numbing cream is applied that stays on for about 20 minutes and reapplied as needed, and then the pigments are inserted with one of the thinnest needles in the market in the superficial dermal layer of the skin-this technique is also known as Microblading. The treatment takes about two hours, with enough time to assess each step of the way.

What is the touch up session?

The Touch Up Session, done within 6 weeks of the initial treatment, is extremely important and mandatory to ensure perfect results.  We use this session to set the shape and color, and make any small adjustments if needed. Color and hair stroke Touch Up maintenance is recommended every 6-12 months depending on skin type, life style and preference.

How long do the results last?

For eyebrows and lip, up to two years. For eyeliner, three to five years. Hair color, skin type, after-care, and lifestyle also affect longevity of the results. Occasional touch-ups are a way to refresh the results. Done correctly, the treatments do not change color and fade naturally away with time. For areas such as eyebrows, this allows future flexibility with shape, as standards of beauty change.

How long is the healing process?

There is no downtime; however the eyebrows will take about one week to fully heal. It is normal to experience some swelling and tenderness following your procedure. It doesn’t take very long for it to disappear. Immediately following your treatment the pigment will appear darker and brighter than how it will actually heal. You might also feel the pigment looks darker than you expected. Don’t worry. After a few days, the surface color naturally exfoliates to leave a softer color. After five days, the color will actually be lighter than you want it to be. That is why a Touch Up visit is necessary in order to achieve that richness of color. During this period, after-care procedures should be carefully followed.

Is it painful?

We use the most effective numbing creams that are FDA approved. On a scale of 1 to 10 with “1” being no discomfort, clients often experience between a 2 and 3 with our Signature treatments. Other factors such as menstrual cycles also affect level of sensitivity.

Is it safe?

All our pigments are cosmetic grade, meaning that they are sterilized and purified for cosmetic use. The ingredients used have been approved by the FDA for cosmetic use. Be wary of products that have not met safety standards, including those that contain “vegetable dyes” that are unstable and may change color after time. In addition, ONLY new, individually packed disposable needles are used and discarded after each treatment and tools are autoclaved. Our specialists are highly trained and experienced professionals, licensed by the State of Florida. We observe the strictest standards of cleanliness and adhere to OSHA regulations, certified in Blood-borne Pathogens and Infection Control and use EPA registered, hospital level tuberculocidal disinfectants. We pride ourselves on maintaining the highest standards of care for each and every client. Each client is shown their tray set up. Cross contamination can cause infection or illness….take it seriously. Wax Spa is Department of Health Compliant and Inspected. Make sure to see your needles prior to the procedure.

I do not live in miami and cannot return within 6 weeks for the touch up session how will this affect results?

Some of our tourist clients do not have the flexibility to return within 6 weeks for the Touch Up Session.  Please come in for a consultation and we can assess this on a case-by-case basis.
